Frequently Asked Questions

We are happy to help you with the use of our sparkling water makers and cylinders. Check out our FAQs, user guides and tips for your product.

Do you have to connect the soda maker to the electricity?

A soda maker does not need electricity to operate, so you can make fresh sparkling water anytime, anywhere. Just press the button and enjoy your drink.

How do I adjust the water saturation level?

Very simply – with manual soda makers you determine the degree of saturation by the number and length of button presses (1x for lightly sparkling, 2x for medium and 3x for strong sparkling. Always each press for 2-3 seconds). You can test the optimum degree of saturation yourself after the first few uses.

How many days can my saturated drink last in the bottle?

A saturated drink lasts approximately 2-3 days in the bottle. The advantage of soda makers is that you can prepare freshly saturated water at any time.

Can I put the bottle or soda maker in the dishwasher?

You cannot put any part of the soda maker, bottle or CO2 cylinder in the dishwasher. The exception is our new all stainless steel carbonated water bottle ADD117SST, which you can also buy separately

Can I fill a sweetened drink?

You cannot saturate sweetened, mixed or hot drinks with the soda maker.

Why use replaceable CO2 cylinders?

By using our bottles repeatedly and regularly, you can save up to almost a thousand disposable plastic bottles of carbonated water per year. And they’re also cheaper than new bottles.

How do I tell a genuine CO2 cylinder?

You can recognize a genuine filled and tested Philips CO2 cylinder by two features that are valid at the same time: 1. The packaging always contains the Philips logo. 2. The top part around the valve is wrapped with an undamaged blue seal with the expiry date.

How do I know that the CO2 cylinder is new and full as stated on the packaging?

Each cylinder has the empty weight stamped on its body (marked TARE/KG). If you weigh a new CO2 cylinder and subtract the weight of the empty CO2 cylinder, the difference is the weight of the gas cartridge. For a full CO2 cylinder it is at least 425 g.

How long does one CO2 cylinder last?

With one CO2 cylinder you can saturate up to 60 litres of water. However, the number of litres depends on the degree of saturation you use.

Are Philips CO2 cylinder compatible with other soda makers?

Yes, our CO2 cylinder can be used with soda makers from companies such as Sodastream. However, Philips only guarantees the quality of the original filled Philips CO2 cylinder, which is the only one tested and recommended by us for use in our soda makers.
